Beginning in 2011, Jordan began work as a fully uniformed armed security officer, providing embedded 24-hour patrol services in East Palo Alto and San Francisco’s Bayview/Hunters Point District, totaling over 130 complexes and approximately 1,200 units. He assisted in security branch operations as a Field Supervisor, overseeing client satisfaction, scheduling, hiring, and payroll throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Jordan has also been a security site manager for a combination residential/commercial high rise in San Francisco’s Fillmore District, and at an IRS tax processing facility requiring a 5-year government clearance. He then transitioned to work as an Executive Protection Agent in California's Silicon Valley. There he provided close protection to mitigate risk for high-profile individuals wherever their interests took them.
In 2019 Jordan entered the police academy under California Peace Officer's Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.). Currently, Jordan is an active-duty police officer for a major metropolitan department.
Jordan started Sigma Security Concepts after more than a decade of experience in both security
and law enforcement. After making the transition to law enforcement, he came to realize a
void in the industry; a lack of purpose for the individual security officer.
He first experienced this void while working in the security industry and grappled with the concept of commitment vs. compliance. He later observed it while working in law enforcement and interacting with security personnel. This lack of purpose is best exemplified by the industry's turnover rate.
According to Celayix and Building Security Services & Systems, the average employee turnover rate across all industries is 41%. The security industry has a turnover rate anywhere between 100% to 300% citing the following reasons:
• Lack of recognition
• Stress
• Poor salary
• Lack of training
• Poor recruiting
• Lack of career progression
Sigma Security Concepts offers comprehensive training services to help fill the void felt by
security officers across the industry, by focusing on two of the main causes of employee
turnover; lack of training and lack of recognition.
Developed after over a decade of experience in both security and law enforcement, Sigma Security Concepts provides the soft skills and knowledge needed to excel in the field as an exemplary security officer.
The 'sigma mindset', as opposed to the alpha or beta, is characterized by independence, self-sufficiency, strong will and determined confidence. One who does not conform to traditional
paths, but rather forms their own.
Sigma Security Concepts forms its own path in the industry; through training we seek to
elevate all security officers from 'meets minimum standards' to 'exemplary'. We will discuss industry relevant topics including those outlined by BSIS, leadership, professionalism, ethics, report writing, presentation & command presence and more.
Why Sigma Security Concepts?
As an independent contractor, all security officers are ultimately responsible for maintaining their security permit status. This obviously includes recertifying their Guard Card and, if applicable, Exposed Firearm Permit every two years. This process is of course an out-of-pocket expense for the contractor. Depending on the course type and training institution, this could cost the contractor anywhere between $20 - $150 per course. Sometimes, for various reasons, the validity of a security officers permits may laps, which inevitably has a detrimental effect on the service provided to the client.
At Sigma Security Concepts, we seek to alleviate the above referenced concerns. We work directly with you, the service provider, to train your security officers on site. This removes the burden on the contractor to find and pay for an appropriate training facility. This also provides the service provider peace of mind knowing their staff is continually and professionally trained, and up to date with all BSIS requirements.
In short, this provides the security officer with the recognition and training they both need and desire. Once established, the officer will more readily serve the client out of commitment to the company rather than mere compliance.
